What is an FPO ?
A farmer’s produce organization(FPO) is a corporate body whose main activities consist of production, harvesting, processing, procurement, grading ,pooling,handling,marketing ,the export or import of primary produce of farmers or services for their benefit. FPO is an organization that includes the farmers as a small stakeholder, thanks to the size and the reach of the organization the farmers can directly sell their produce , this eliminates the middleman and also minimizes the practice of hoarding. As farmers are stakeholders in the organization, they get to decide where and how to sell their products.
